About Us

Having lived and worked in the Far East for many years we had a passion for hot and spicy food.
We started growing chillis just for ourselves about 5 years ago although it was for fun we grew far too many chillis for our own consumption so the idea was born to start selling the surplus at car boot sales sales and to other local outlets.
At the end of 2005 we leased part of the old Kingsclere Nursery to try putting our small scale operation onto a more commercial basis. Thankfully, in part due to the hot weather, we produced a bumper crop of our 4 main varieties of chilli orange habs, red scotch bonnet, jalapeno and cayenne. We could have sold more than we produced but due to space restrictions we couldn’t expand at Kingsclere any further.
As luck would have it Herriard Nursery became available in October 2006. The nursery had not been used for about 6 months and had reverted back to a wild

natural state with weeds the size of a bus. We have slowly tamed the beast cleared most of the weeds repaired and erected new polytunnels and a small area of glasshouses.
THE FUTURE
We will continue to grow fresh chillis which we sell mainly to producers of chilli sauces and salsas at the same greatly increase the production of pot plants and seedlings the latter for sale to an internet chilli company. The asian herbs and baby leaves will be marketed to the catering trade with an bias on the use locally grown food.
As chillis and asian herbs are considered exotic we will expand the theme to include exotic plants orchids calla lilies bananas palms and other unusual plants and foliage.
To help us achieve this expansion and increased work load we are looking for partners if your interested give Mark a call on 07775-681511.
